FAQ
Can I change plans at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade to Pro when your band needs more space or downgrade to Free if you decide to slow down. Changes will apply on the next billing cycle.
What happens to my songs if I downgrade to Free?
Your music is safe. Upon downgrading, your 3 most recently updated songs will remain editable. The rest will enter "read-only" mode (you can view and play them). If your audio adds up to more than 50 MB, you have 14 days to download it or go back to Pro. After that we keep your most recent audio files up to 50 MB and delete the rest, oldest first. For example, if your last 3 audio files add up to 56 MB, only the last 2 are kept. Songs, lyrics and albums are never deleted.
If my bandmate has Pro, do I need it too?
No. Limits are based on the project owner. If you are invited to a Pro project, you will collaborate without facing Free storage or song limits within that project.
Is the Free plan actually free forever?
Yes. The free plan has no time limit: one album, three songs and 50 MB of audio, with the block editor, lyrics, chords and collaboration. The tablature editor, concerts, calendar and expenses are part of Pro.
Is Songtape for solo songwriters too?
Yes. Even though it's optimized for band workflows, the block editor and setlist management are incredible tools for structuring solo projects or acoustic gigs.
Can I run several bands on one Pro account?
Yes. Pro lets you own up to 3 projects (for example, your main band plus a side project). The 10 GB of audio storage is a shared total across those projects, not 10 GB each.
What happens to the audio I upload?
Songtape converts every upload to AAC (96 kbps) to save space and bandwidth. Quality may drop very slightly, which is fine for rehearsal references and demos, and the original file is not kept, so keep your master recordings elsewhere.
